Students are involved in a range of stimulating and distinctive experiences in the areas of Music, Visual Arts, Dance, Drama, Graphics and Media. They develop the ability to express their ideas and feelings in a variety of ways and to appreciate, respond to and reflect on the role of the arts in our society. Specialist teachers are provided for both Visual Arts (Art/Craft) and Performing Arts (Music, Dance and Drama). The Arts Program is linked to themes being studied by each year level where possible.
Performing Arts (Music, Dance and Drama) Students in Years 3 to 6 have the opportunity to join our school Choir. Students in Years 5 and 6 are able to join our Chalcot Cheer Squad. These groups frequently perform in the school and within the Endeavour Hills community. All students are involved in our end of year concert and Years 4 and 6 are also involved in theatrical productions.
Visual Arts (Art/Craft) All students in Years P-6 have weekly Visual Arts lessons, which are taught by the Visual Arts specialist teacher in the art room. Students must wear a smock to protect their school clothes. Ideally, elastic at the neck and wrists (for younger students) helps the students put their smocks on easily. Older students could use an old, adult sized shirt. All smocks must be named, preferably on the front of the smock.
